SUMMARY:Last Cup: Road to the World Series of Beer Pong
DESCRIPTION:In January of 2006\, just outside of Las Vegas\, Billy Gaines
and Duncan Carroll held the inaugural World Series of Beer Pong (WSOBP)
. A drinking game that had been relegated to fraternity basements and l
ocal sports bars finally had a national stage. In 2007\, Billy and Dunc
an doubled the prize money to $20\,000\, and in doing so\, more than tri
pled the number of teams. Players from across the country descended on
Mesquite\, NV to compete for the money and\, more importantly\, their ch
ance to be crowned World Series Champion. Last Cup follows four of thes
e competitors for whom beer pong is more than a simple past time\, it's
a way of life. Using strict training regiments\, fierce dedication\, an
d statistical analysis that rivals even the most ardent sabermetrics the
se competitors will stop at nothing to claim the world title. A movie a
bout the seemingly dismissible world of competitive beer pong\, Last Cup
cuts through the drunken fog that has shaped the public's perception of
the game and examines the players thirst for competition\, their reluct
ance to "grow up" and their desire for fame and glory.

SUMMARY:Christmas on Mars
DESCRIPTION:A fantastical and disturbing humanistic freakout. As much abo
ut bleak isolation as it is about exaggerated colorful optimism. The lon
g awaited feature film by The Flaming Lips is set in outer space on the
surface of Mars. The double failures of a clunky old oxygen generator an
d an exotic but finicky gravity control pod have conspired to weaken the
resolve and psychological judgment of the crew and the film’s protagoni
st Major Syrtis. This means he has horrific hallucinations that are cent
ered around the artificial birth of the Christmas baby. An alien super-b
eing arrives and with his otherworldly powers fixes the oxygen generator
but it’s the station’s genius mechanic who fixes the gravity problem. A
nd in a way that crystallizes The Flaming Lips philosophy “It’s magic an
d hard work that really gets the job done.” Beware\, it is a strange exp
erience not meant for children\, but for the inner child in all of us gr
own-ups. *Appearances by Adam Goldberg\, SNL's Fred Armisen\, and Flami
ng Lips own Wayne Coyne who also directs.

SUMMARY:Airplay: The Rise and Fall of Rock Radio
DESCRIPTION:In 1960\, Congress held "payola" hearings to target the deeja
ys guilty of breaking down economic and racial barriers. Program directo
r and radio consultants took control. Rock radio became bland and predic
table\, until a new wave of deejays set up shop on the FM dial. "Top 40
is dead\," declared Tom Donahue in San Francisco. "And its rotting corps
e is stinking up the airwaves." Bands like the Grateful Dead and Jeffers
on Airplane ignited a cultural revolution until FM\, too\, was silenced
by FCC intimidation and corporate greed. "Airplay" pays tribute to those
unsung heroes of FM\, and the promise of a rebirth on satellite radio\,
told by the deejays and the artists they made rock stars. *Appearances

SUMMARY:The Shark is Still Working: The Impact and Legacy of Jaws
DESCRIPTION:According to the American Film Institute\, Jaws ranks among
the fifty \ngreatest movies of all time and the second greatest thrill
 er ever \n(Behind Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho ). After three decades\, t
he film \ncontinues to intrigue\, thrill and frighten viewers. It’s bec
ome an \nentertainment mainstay\, a timeless classic in a world of fad
filmmaking.\nThe movie’s legacy is undeniable and virtually unmatched: I
t jump-\nstarted the summer blockbuster phenomenon\, not to mention the
  \nillustrious career of one Hollywood’s most influential directors\, \
nSteven Spielberg. Jaws was a thoroughly groundbreaking film in every
\nway imaginable. It had a tremendous impact on the way movies are made
\, \nmarketed and merchandised and spawned a pop cultural fascination w
ith \nsharks. And\, perhaps most notably\, the film generated a viscera
l fear \nof swimming that continues to afflict multitudes to this day.
\nThough scores of pictures have been made attempting to capitalize on
\nthe “man vs. nature” genre so brilliantly defined by Jaws \, none ha
ve \neven remotely approximated its impact. It remains solidly among th
e \ntop box office grossers of all time\, and is televised frequently -
its \nunrivaled shelf-life allowing it to be discovered and adored by
new \ngenerations of fans. In fact\, some of today’s hottest directors
and \nwriters have cited Jaws as their inspiration for pursuing a car
eer in \nfilm. But the movie's influence didn't stop at the entertainme
nt \nindustry. Numerous marine biologists and shark researchers have
\nattested that their early fascination with Jaws ignited a lifelong
\ndedication to their chosen field. It can also be said that the \nini
tial phenomenon of the film (and original novel) was a significant \nca
talyst for public awareness of sharks\, leading to the eventual \nadvan
cement of shark science and conservation. \nNarrated by Chief Martin Br

popular culture. Interviews with the cast \nand crew\, contemporary fi

the movie\, will give the viewer some insight \nas to why Jaws has earn

SUMMARY:Playing Columbine: A True Story of Video Game Controversy
DESCRIPTION:On April 20th 1999\, the United States was rocked by a horrif
ic school shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton\, Colorado. In
the years\nto follow\, many forms of media began to sort out the events
of that day. Books were published. Films were produced. Then in 2005\, o
ne\nColorado man created an amateur videogame exploring the actions and
possible motives of the two shooters. Offered as a free online computer\
ngame\, it was downloaded over half a million times\, became immensely c
ontroversial and brought a pressing question to the public discussion:\n
we can read Columbine\, we can watch Columbine\, but can we play Columbi
 ne? Moreover\, should we?

SUMMARY:Happy Birthday\, Harris Malden
DESCRIPTION:The debut feature by the filmmakers known as Sweaty Robot is
a playful yet poignant labor of love that offers a fresh take on friends
hip\, loyalty\, and bushy mustaches.\n \nHarris Malden fakes his facial
hair\, and as far as he's concerned\, nobody can tell. No one in the nei
ghborhood\, not even his best friend Paul or his brother Melvin\, has th
e heart to tell Harris how ridiculous he looks with the thick\, black li
e about his lip. Everything is fine in Harris' world – until Paul brings
an outsider to his 25th birthday party who immediately calls out Harris
' hairy imposter\, leaving the young man and his friends to deal with th
e fallout of his open secret.\n \nHAPPY BIRTHDAY\, HARRIS MALDEN creates
a quirky world that borders on dramatic but always remains human and ab
surd – as people and relationships tend to be. The funny and engaging ba
nter reveals everyone's inner strengths and weaknesses but enlightenment
bears an emotional burden for everyone. The Sweaty Robot team displays
impressive comedic timing that could only come from a group familiar wit
h each other and innately aware of how to make people laugh\, and if the
  moment is right...maybe even cry.\n \n \nPublic Contact Info: \nsweatyr

SUMMARY:The Rock-afire Explosion
DESCRIPTION:Fatz Geronimo. Mitzi Mozzarella. Billy Bob (no\, not Thornt
on).\nYou won’t hear about the tumultuous times of these fallen stars or
their powerful fan base on VH1’s Behind the Music. Which is kind of su
rprising actually\, because the background story here is every bit as en
thralling as that of Journey or Quiet Riot.\n \nConsisting entirely of
animatronic robots\, The Rock-afire Explosion dazzled (and in some cases
\, frightened) children across America at pre-Chuck E. Cheese child-tain
ment chain\, Showbiz Pizza. For those of us that don’t recall the ‘Biz
(or haven’t caught the circulating Rock-afire YouTube videos)\, director
Brett Whitcomb’s touching doc serves up a nostalgic slice from a parall
el 80’s universe\, focusing primarily on the lives of Rock-afire invento
 r Aaron Fechter\, and the Rock-afire’s biggest fan\, Chris Thrash.\n \n
If you love films about robots\, obsessive fans and/or obscure 80s pop c
ulture\, you’re in for an absolute treat. Completely devoid of irony or
  condescension\, Rock-afire is a colorful celebration of passionate\, de
dicated fandom in the unlikeliest of places.\n \nNerd pride\, represent
! *Recently appeared on the Carson Daly show.
